Read about last year's event
The Sharf Memorial Golf Outing, held annually at Oakland University's R&S Sharf and Katke-Cousins golf courses, commemorates Stephan and Rita Sharf, OU’s benefactors whose support spanned over 25 years. Stephan Sharf, a dedicated member of OU's Board of Trustees and Foundation Board of Directors, alongside his wife Rita, contributed more than $20 million to Oakland University. Their generosity includes establishing the Stephan Sharf Endowed Scholarship for Engineering Students, empowering countless students pursuing career in engineering.
Since 2015, DTE Energy has proudly sponsored the golf outing as part of its commitment to empowering local communities through educational initiatives and equitable access to opportunities. This sponsorship reflects DTE Energy's mission to support organizations fostering educational and professional growth for underserved youth and adults.
The Sharf Memorial Golf Outing directly benefits Oakland University's School of Engineering and Computer Science (SECS) and its affiliated underrepresented student organizations: Society of Women Engineers (SWE), National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), Women in Computing (WIC), and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE). Proceeds from the outing also support SECS Outreach, STEM education, and community initiatives. Over the years, these funds have significantly contributed to increasing enrollment of female and underserved students across all engineering programs at Oakland University.
We express deepest gratitude to our sponsors for their generous support of the Sharf Golf Outing and SECS students. We truly appreciate their dedication to investing in the future of our students.
